Republicans Are Dodging Policy Scrutiny, Then Claiming Victim Status Over Shoe Question
Strategic victimhood & blame inversion
After a Democrat asked about Secretary Rubio’s gifted shoes, Republican accounts blasted the hearing as a partisan 'circus' and portrayed Rubio as the aggrieved party. The outrage narrative shifts attention away from substantive foreign-policy oversight while depicting the more powerful side as persecuted. This role-reversal tactic is classic manufactured victimhood.
