Pam Bondi mentioned Jay Clayton in her testimony about the files. Interesting that he’s handling the file “investigation” on behalf of the DOJ (I mean Trump). 😉

President Trump nominates Jay Clayton for director of national intelligence

Thanks for the encouraging post, Senator! Can you detail Mr. Clayton's extensive national security expertise? We'd all love to hear about that.

Does Jay Clayton have any intelligence or national security experience or background? Does he fit the legal requirements under 50 U.S.C. § 3023 or 50 U.S.C. § 3026? No, of course not. What he does have is a concerning history of using regulatory and prosecutorial offices to target Trump’s political adversaries. Clayton’s background includes chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, a federal prosecutor for NY and a corporate lawyer specializing in capital markets and mergers and acquisitions. A curious choice for the head the United States intelligence community who is tasked with supervising and coordinating 18 federal intelligence and security agencies (including CIA, NSA and FBI) and advising the President, the National Security Council and the Homeland Security Council on matters of intelligence and security. And Sen. Budd is out here championing Clayton with no experience for such an important role. If Trump nominated a tree branch, Sen. Budd would be out here campaigning for it. Who do you represent?

Our intelligence community has a long history of of integrity and honor. As a former Naval Intelligence Officer, I take exception to any attempt to sully our reputation. Duty, honor country; period.
