Government talking point

GOP posts uniformly praise the tax law as historic relief for ordinary people while ignoring who gains most from the breaks and omitting independent cost estimates. The repetition frames Trump as sole defender of workers, fostering emotional loyalty rather than informed debate about fiscal trade-offs.

Have you seen politicians celebrating the anniversary of the tax cut package passed last year? 🏛️📊 While they are highlighting a bigger Child Tax Credit, independent budget watchdogs and public health researchers warn that the math—and the human cost—tells a very different story: ❌ Claim: "The largest tax cut in American history." ⚠️ The Reality: Not quite. Economists measure tax cuts as a percentage of GDP to adjust for inflation. By that standard, the 1981 Reagan tax cuts still hold the crown. ❌ Claim: "97% of filers received a tax cut." ⚠️ The Reality: This metric includes people who simply avoided a tax increase because expiring tax brackets from 2017 were extended. Nonpartisan analysis shows nearly 60% of the actual net dollar savings went to the top 20% of earners. ❌ Claim: "Protected 41,690 small businesses from a 43.4% tax rate in CA-20." ⚠️ The Reality: Small businesses pay taxes based on their owner's personal income bracket. Only a tiny fraction of the wealthiest business owners in California's 20th district ever faced that top 43.4% marginal rate. 🔴 The Hidden Cost: Sweeping Safety Net Cuts To offset the revenue loss, the package triggered deep spending reductions. Public health researchers and tracking organizations warn these cuts have devastating, real-world consequences: * Medicaid Cuts (~$900B): Leading medical journals and university health policies estimate that kicking millions of Americans off health insurance to fund tax cuts leads to thousands of preventable domestic deaths annually. Hardest hit are nursing home residents, infants, and low-income patients losing access to life-saving medications for heart disease, HIV, and cancer. * Global USAID Freezes: To balance the federal budget, steep foreign aid spending cuts and program shutdowns disrupted crucial global supply chains. Public health models suggest these funding halts are tied to hundreds of thousands of excess deaths globally—primarily children losing access to malaria prevention, HIV treatments, and nutrition clinics. 💸 The Fiscal Bottom Line: According to the Congressional Budget Office, this tax package is projected to add between $3.3 trillion and $4 trillion to the national debt over the next decade. Policy decisions aren't just about percentage shifts on a spreadsheet—they affect lives both at home and abroad. #TaxPolicy #FactCheck #EconomyNews #BudgetWatchdog #PublicHealth

Mike you talk like the no tax on overtime is so massive but do you realize that is only on the .5 of the time and half . But your millionaire and billionaire buddies get millions and millions of tax breaks. How about your wealthy donors pay their employees a wage that can support a family and if they don’t they pay higher taxes. As far as no tax on tips is great but how bout they get payed a family wage instead of the patrons who buy the food from a restaurant at a high price only to turn around and be expected to pay the server. I believe you are out of touch with reality if you think the tax cuts in this country are fair across the board for the working class and the rich .

We cut your taxes but took your healthcare and everything else and raised it. Don’t pay attention to the high gas prices or the amount your spending in inflation. We gave you a tax break, not as much of a break as the millionaires and billionaires but it was a little bit. Be grateful.
