FIFA Article 14 (Members' Obligations) dictates that national football associations must manage their affairs independently, free from any legal, political, or governmental interference. If a government attempts to dictate, control, or override these associations, FIFA has the authority to suspend the offending country, banning its national teams and clubs from all international competitions.

Yes, it was a bad call but: Article 27 of the “FIFA Disciplinary Code,” gives the Soccer judicial bodies the power to fully or partially suspend the implementation of a disciplinary sanction on a player. ...Should have been NO interference or phone calls from political figures in the United States. FIFA should have handled this themselves.

Since it wasn’t called during live play as a foul, slow motion cannot be used to determine the foul. They must look at it only in real time replay. They used slow motion which is not in the rules as a way to determine a foul in that instance. So he was wrongly given the red card. Trump just corrected an injustice. Nothing more. It would have gone to CAS had FIFA not overruled the suspension and they would have overturned it.

There is precedent in World Cup history for a player’s suspension getting overturned. 64 years ago, Brazil's Garrincha was to be suspended for the final, but host nation Chile led a successful petition to allow him to play. Brazil ultimately beat Czechoslovakia 3-1 to win the World Cup. It was okay then but because Trump does it the people with TDS goes crazy…

The irony is hard to miss. The U.S. spent years criticizing alleged foreign interference in elections, yet here we have a U.S. President reportedly lobbying FIFA over a disciplinary decision. Different context, of course, but it still raises interesting questions about political leaders trying to influence independent international bodies. The U.S. has long condemned foreign interference in democratic processes. Personally lobbying FIFA over a disciplinary ruling is, at the very least, an attempt to influence an independent international sporting process. Different arena, similar principle: institutions are supposed to make decisions free from political pressure. ⚽🤔

Cry me a river! The selective outrage over FIFA is laughable. Where were all these critics when Cristiano Ronaldo had a red card suspension overturned? Where was the outrage when Lionel Messi stepped on an opponent’s calf and escaped without even a booking? Or does due process only become a problem when an American benefits? The U.S. player challenged for a 50-50 ball, committed an unintentional foul, received a straight red, and the decision was appealed. FIFA’s rules allow appeals. The appeal was heard, reviewed, and granted. That’s called due process—not favoritism. Ironically, many of the same people crying today were the loudest voices against expanding the World Cup to 48 teams. They swore it would ruin the tournament. Instead, eight African nations and several so-called “minnows” have made this World Cup one of the most exciting ever. The football has spoken louder than the critics. Enough with the hypocrisy. Enough with the whining. Enjoy the beautiful game—whether you call it soccer or football. 🇺🇸 USA all the way! And as we say in Liberia: “You like it, Jacko; you don’t like it, Jacko lantern!”

Where was the indignation when FIFA deferred the final two games of Cristiano Ronaldo's three-match suspension under Chapter 4, Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This allowed him to serve only a one-match ban during a qualifying game and avoid missing the start of the World Cup.Ronaldo originally received the three-match ban after a straight red card for violent conduct during a World Cup qualifying match against Ireland in November 2025. Because this was his first red card in over 200 senior international matches, FIFA granted him leniency by placing two of the match bans on a one-year probation period, clearing him to participate in the tournament!
