Government talking point

Posts praising the new defense-authorization bill lean heavily on “peace through strength” slogans and lionize President Trump as the singular protector of the nation. The coordinated language personalizes U.S. military power around one leader, a classic strongman marketing technique that glosses over costs or debate.

It is a hell of a consitutional stretch, personally Unconstitutional in what the framers had in mind. Doubt our founding fathers would be okay delegating military authority to any foreign power. Especially what John Quincy Adams wrote within the Monroe Doctrine. Washington also warned us about this in his farewell address. Warned mostly about the alliance and allies. President Eisenhower warned not just about the military industrial complex corrupting our national security apparatus. Also, the academic industrial complex this flow of Federal funds was going to corrupt academy. Our public intellectuals would be captured individuals lobbying for a particular agenda or advancing good ideas of the public opinion. Cause this bill it will not be perverted or infringe on our Constitutional rights like the Patriot act. Does our legislative branch members get immunity from this as well? What happens if we have a foreign government overstep there boundaries with this agreement? Are you going to just a strong worded letter? Whether arguments can be made on both sides the Consitutional Validity. One thing is clear and can not be disputed especially under this administration and the Legislative branch. It demonstrates our government serves only special interests & lobbyists (where ever they roam) and not the American people. We do need a Third party that will be serious in stopping our country acting like an empire and be the Consitutional republic we were founded to be.

As you are a self-proclaimed “budget guy” (who usually whines about “spending” bills): 1) How is the absolutely massive increase in the military budget being paid for? 2) How is Trump’s self-chosen (and still unauthorized) War with Iran being paid for? 3) Why has there been no deficit or debt reduction (both have increased at a faster rate than previous sessions/budget years despite the deep deep cuts to programs which support the American people) during this Administration, and during your tenure? 4). What unrevealed “eminent danger” exists for Trump’s Republican Party to not only forsake Eisenhower’s (and Nixon’s & Reagan’s) dictums and warnings, but to wholly embrace their opposite in unbending support of the MIC? To put another way: if we spend all our money guarding our home, but none on maintaining nor building our home or the people in it, then what the he// are we guarding?? And why? Why the obsession with “Fortress America”?

So you also agree with Section 219 of the bill which is the United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative?

Facebook Facebook user 3mo ago 46%

Congressman - Why do you want to merge our military with Israel's military? That is what section 219 does.

Facebook Facebook user 3mo ago 46%

Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez Section 1217 of the FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)—along with its House counterpart, Section 219—proposes a major U.S.-Israel defense technology integration. It mandates the Secretary of Defense to designate an executive agent to synchronize bilateral efforts, accelerate cooperative research, and integrate Israeli technologies and intelligence streams directly into U.S. defense systems. [1, 2] Perspectives on U.S.-Israel Defense Integration Policy groups and activists are actively debating the implications of this provision, with some expressing concern over permanent military entanglement and others supporting enhanced technological cooperation. “Once embedded, this integration will be nearly impossible to reverse, as the US learned the hard way when it spent years unwinding Turkey from the F-35 program. No foreign country should gain that kind of structural leverage over US defense priorities.” “No other U.S. ally, including NATO members, has this level of statutory, permanent integration written into law. My concerns are threefold: First, this kind of long-term strategic commitment to a foreign military belongs in a treaty ratified by two-thirds…” Section 1217 of the Senate's proposed National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2027 has not yet passed. The broader $1.15 trillion defense authorization bill remains stalled in the Senate due to ongoing partisan disputes over overall spending levels and objections from Democrats regarding the bill's provisions. Key Details of Section 1217 • Purpose: The provision establishes the "U.S.-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative." It is designed to accelerate joint research, development, and integration of defense technologies (like AI, autonomous systems, and cyber warfare) between the U.S. and Israel. • Controversy: Critics—including Senator Bernie Sanders—have raised concerns that the legislation deepens military integration to an unprecedented level and reduces the flexibility of future presidents to alter the security partnership. Current Legislative Status The defense legislation hit a roadblock as Democrats blocked the initial procedural vote required to begin floor debate on the package. The future of Section 1217 depends on whether the broader bill can overcome this current stalemate for full floor debate and potential amendment votes.

Don’t put lipstick on a pig. We would not be in the shape we are for needing to restock our military if Trump had not attacked Iran and you standing by and ignoring your Constitutional duty to hold him to requiring Congressional right to authorize war or enforcing the War Powers Act. You are as culpable for this mess as he is.
