He is the elected Mayor of NYC, and therefore WILL attend, and plans to stand with New Yorkers, survivors, first responders, and families to honor the victims. Politicly he must attend, just the way it works, he was elected by the people to lead NYC for better or worse. As Mayor it is his duty to attend, but he can be respectful, hang at the back of the crowd and say nothing, but his duty as Mayor, like it or not, demands his attendance. Don't be Karen's, deal with it.

Memorials should not be used for politics, if Mamdani wants to show up pay his respect for the victims and nothing else that should be fine. Giving a speech which is full of his own political messages would not be ok, booing to him just because he gives a speech would be equaly political and should not happen. Bottom line keep politics and political opinions out of the memorial.
