This is an article that is relieving. It shows that local and federal government people knew about it and when they talked to the hacker found out to fix the vulnerabilities, and that it was never used as anything but a challenge to his skills. Those files had nothing to do with actual voter records used on election day.
It was a serious breach, but the stolen files were voter registration records — not ballots or vote tallies. The person who did it was identified 
The hacker got into the voter roll info that is available to anyone who pays for it. Does not include things like SS numbers or voting record. Also, the hacker did not access ability to manipulate anything. This was NOT a hack into the voting systems, but the registration lists
