Government talking point

GOP lawmakers frame a symbolic resolution as a litmus test for patriotism, insisting that Democrats who opposed it must secretly support oppressive regimes. The rhetoric turns a procedural vote into ideological demonization, manufacturing an us-versus-them crisis that rallies the base while delegitimizing political opponents.

Voting against this particular resolution didn't necessarily mean a Democrat supported socialism. The resolution bundled the condemnation of socialism with other provisions, including the SAVE America Act. Roll Call reported that some Democrats whc opposed the measure said they agreed with opposing socialism but objected to the additional provisions and the political framing.

Let’s be transparent, Vince. This was not a stand-alone condemnation of socialism. The House already passed H.Con.Res. 58, "Denouncing the Horrors of Socialism," on November 21, 2025 WITH bipartisan support. This was H.Res.1490, and it: * condemns and denounces socialism in all its forms, including the Democratic Socialists of America, and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States; * reaffirms its support for free, fair, and secure elections and calls for enactment of the SAVE America Act; * reiterates that American elections are for American citizens only; and * recommits itself to upholding the U.S. Constitution. It was NOT just condemning socialism; it was hidden support of the SAVE America act, which is another way of suppressing the vote. You know that, but your post conveniently left that part out.

COMMUNITY NOTE This post leaves out key context about the vote. While 192 Democrats voted against the resolution, reporting shows they opposed it because the measure included language supporting the SAVE Act, a partisan voter‑ID bill. The resolution was symbolic and made no policy changes. Democrats have supported similar anti‑socialism resolutions in the past when they did not include unrelated voting‑law provisions. A “no” vote here does not indicate support for socialism. (Copilot)

Way to tell us you don't know what socialism is, without admitting you don't know what socialism is. Does that mean you're going to give back your government paid salary? How about your government paid healthcare? You know - the socialist programs that benefit you and the rest of congress. What about the fire and police departments? Roads? Should I go on or do you get the point? Admit it - you learned a new buzzword and hope enough people don't bother to look below the surface into what it really means. Do better.
