Government talking point

If Tom Cotton were putting Arkansas first, he would give them an extra hour of daylight and, more importantly, they wouldn’t have to run all over their houses, farms, work places, and everywhere else, twice a year, having to change their Clocks, and often forgetting to do so. That is really putting

Daylight Savings Time for the Win! Kids need time to play outside in the later afternoon/evening. They don’t need to go to school in the dark and come home in the dark. And in the summer - who needs a 5am or earlier sunrise??

Tom Cotton against it because "kids will have to go to school in the dark." Well, Senator Tom Cotton, kids already go to school in the dark. Why not just pass daylight savings time and let local schools decide whether or not to adjust their hours.

Arizona doesn't change their clocks. The are on standard time all year. Permanent daylight savings time was tried in the 1970's. It didn't last.

Permanent Standard Time is the best option for Florida and all of the U.S. Morning light is needed to reset the circadian rhythm on a daily basis. Evening darkness signals the body to begin melatonin production, to better enable sleep at bedtime. DST skews the social clock in the opposite direction. DST is basically a mandate for everyone to start their day an hour earlier, while pretending it’s an hour later. Permanent DST was tried in the 1970’s and quickly reversed due to its extreme unpopularity once it was actually experienced. Let’s eliminate clock changes, but let’s do it right this time. Please amend this bill to implement permanent Standard Time.

I keep getting reminded of the old native American saying that only a white man would think you can cut a foot off of the top of a blanket and sew it on to the bottom of the blanket and make that blanket longer lol Changing what time the clock says doesn't change the amount of daylight you get lol

I’m with Cotton on this one. If we switch to one time, then Standard Time. Under DST in the Midwest in the middle of winter the sun wouldn’t rise until almost 9 am. No thank you! They tried it in the 70s and hated it so much they switched back. I’m a Trump supporter but do not want DST year round.
