Government talking point

GOP officials and right-wing media paint Iran as an existential menace while boasting that Trump has ‘destroyed’ the regime’s capabilities through a fictitious operation called “Epic Fury.” This fearmongering scapegoats a foreign enemy to rally support for militarism and Trump’s leadership—classic Category 5 propaganda.

If Iran were really as big of an existential threat to the US and the world as Trump claims, then it should have been easy to make his case before Congress to get support from citizens and the world. Instead, it seems he has started an arbitrary conflict that has put Iran and its allies, Russia and China, in a better position. Iran has successfully blocked the Strait of Hormuz and stalled fossil fuel production in the area. All while reportedly having countries pay them for access. Iran has gained a lot from this, while the US and the West have lost a freeflowing trade route. All this conflict has done is show Iran and countries like it that they can win through attrition. A lesson we should have learned from Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc. Glad nothing actually happened, but that Republicans in Congress let it get this far shows that you are ill equipped for your positions. That you cow before a cult of personality instead of performing your Constitutional duties has been detrimental to the US. Shame!

Dr. Coates keeps insisting Operation Epic Fury is ‘enormously successful by every possible metric,’ but she skips the most basic metric in a democracy: public support. Every major poll shows Americans overwhelmingly oppose this war, across party lines. Calling something a success while the country is rejecting it isn’t analysis; it’s messaging. And she still doesn’t identify a single concrete metric to back up the claim. Casualties? Regional stability? Diplomatic fallout? Humanitarian impact? Economic consequences? None of that is addressed.

Maybe he should’ve listened to the experts about how Iran would react with closing the Strait of Hormuz and attacking regional allies. The blood of the 13 service members (my brothers and sisters) is on his and YOUR hands for supporting this war of choice. We had a deal with Iran, Trump killed it. We “destroyed their nuclear capabilities” then they became a threat again, per Dear Leader, and we go in, without support or planning, and are now left with higher gas prices, weaker national security, and alienating our allies. This is on YOU. We are not safer, we are weaker and without the support of our traditional allies. We are a global pariah thanks to you and Trump. Before you call me a war hater/left wing radical, know that I am a West Point graduate and veteran of two tours in Iraq. I have seen war, and this was not needed.

Trump reiterates threats to bomb Iran's power plants and bridges. CIA Director John Radcliffe, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Seems like he could have chosen his words better, but in my opinion he doesn’t mean it to be threatening towards the Iranian civilians. He meant it towards the current regime.
