Government talking point

After the dinner shooting, Republicans push construction of a bullet-proof White House ballroom—a project previously dismissed as vanity spending. By linking lavish renovations to presidential safety, they convert a moment of fear into justification for costly self-aggrandizement.

Ballroom is not needed ! The dinner is a private event not a government one. Never needed it before . Maybe stop spouting hate and attacking comedians , or just anyone who is not republican would be a good start

Facebook Facebook user 4mo ago 62%

They chose the security level! If Trump chose to go there well in advance, they could have raised the security level for the event. Or he could have not gone. We, the taxpayers, do not need to foot the bill for a ballroom!!! Key Reasons for Security Level:No NSSE Designation: The Department of Homeland Security does not automatically grant the highest-level NSSE, or "National Special Security Event" (NSSE) designation, to private, annual dinners.Event Nature & Attendance: The dinner is considered a private event, and it is not always attended annually by the President, making it harder to classify as a top-tier security event.Security Perimeter & Venue Constraints: The Washington Hilton is a large, public hotel with many access points, making it complex to secure, with experts noting the security focus was tightened specifically near the ballroom two levels down.

There is absolutely no need for the ballroom. How will it keep the president safe when he golfs or goes to a UFC fight, etc..? Please explain.

Look: like or loathe Trump, he has a point here. Having this event at a hotel you cannot secure it 100%. Same goes with the current WH situation where tents had to be set outside for dignitaries. It’s time for logic to come into play. Have him simplify the decor or something, but a bigger ballroom is needed.

How have all other presidents endured no new ballrooms?

Facebook Facebook user 4mo ago 56%

I am not opposed to the ballroom. I am opposed to ANY President of ANY party making such a huge impact on the people's house. The annual operating costs will surely be anywhere from $1 to $2.5 million. Such a large budget impact should be approved by Congress. The fact that it will be built with donations doesn't take into account the annual operating budget. Furthermore, it reeks of pay to play and should not be allowed under any circumstances regardless of the party of the President.

🙄 He parroting the Felon’s chant of “Build the Ballroom” after Saturday night, is ridiculous. His ballroom will only hold 999 guests, per him. The attendance on Friday night at the WHCD was 2,600. The WH correspondents dinner is a private, non-governmental event organized by the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA), a nonprofit organization of journalists. It shouldn’t be held at the WH. If the Felon wants to be a part of it in 30 days and going forward, they should make him zoom into it.
