Any ethanol in gasoline is terrible energy policy. It takes 1.17 units of energy to create 1 unit of energy in the form of ethanol. This includes the efficiency factor that 1 gallon of ethanol has 88% the energy as 1 gallon of regular gasoline. As one who owns farmland, I like higher corn prices. As a trained chemical engineer I know it’s fool gold to covert corn to ethanol as transportation fuel.
It's funny that everybody runs to do bills to save agriculture, which is fine to be perfectly honest with you, but they don't care about anybody else. Ethanol is not a good substitute to put in your car. You get less mileage on it. You still have to use oil to create it. I don't understand the f****** concept behind using e15. I can't use e15 in my car anyway. But that's okay. We're going to f****** we're going to help out the the corn farmers again. Cuz you know there's not enough corn and everything.
Year-round E15 is not some universal consumer miracle. The actual savings at the pump are often marginal, while drivers get lower energy density fuel and many small engines, older vehicles, boats, motorcycles, and equipment face legitimate compatibility and long-term wear concerns. At the same time, politicians continue presenting heavily subsidised corn ethanol as if it were a free-market success story rather than a government-shaped industry dependent on mandates and regulatory protection. Supporting farmers matters. Honest policy analysis matters too. Pretending E15 is an unquestionable win for everyone is politics, not serious governing.

Hahaha! Funny how the amount of "savings" keeps going up! Yesterday you posted that ethanol would save us between $0.15-0.40. Now that figure has gone up by $0.10. Regardless these savings are a pittance when compared to the explosion in costs due to Trump's attack on Iran which is going into the dollars! Add to this the impact on transporting goods, and not only are we paying more at the pump, we are paying more across the board! All because you refuse to speak out against Trump! Shame!

Or, hear me out, Mary. We stop over-subsidizing ethanol, allowing Iowa farmers to have more options of crops and access to different markets. Less dependence on corrupt seed companies. Less need to purchase expensive nitrogen based fertilizer. Improve Iowa's abysmal water quality. You could actually do something GOOD for Iowans and call it a win!
Congressman Mark Alford offering taxpayer subsidies for an inferior gas product is good money chasing bad and contrary to good fiscal discipline. If you would have opposed Trump tariffs that killed MO-4 farmers markets in the first place, our farmers would not be dependent on government handouts to stay in business. Now, your party is supporting beef imports that will kill our MO-4 ranchers. You have to stop voting against your constituents best interests to win favor of big AG donors and Trump. It’s about us, not you and your campaign funding.
Crap gas that actually uses more oil energy in the planting of corn, cultivation, harvesting, processing and transporting than the energy you save. Ethanol has about 1/3 less the BTU of energy than a gallon of gas, which results in lower fuel efficiency...you burn more blended gas than just regular gas. Besides having to be heavily subsidized. The limited benefit of Ethanol blended gas is lower emissions.

It may be a tiny bit cheaper at the pump, but it burns twice as fast. So, either fill up once per week, paying more per gallon, or fill up twice per week and end up paying nearly the same in the end anyway. Plus, it's not good for rubber/plastic components, especially if it's in a vehicle that sits. Ethanol also pulls moisture from the environment. Do you know what would really help farmers? Not having tariffs so that they can actually export their crops and make a living.
Ethanol blend fuel is not for every car. Certainly will never put it in either of my cars. They are not designed to use it all.
